Senex development of Roma North to deliver QLD jobs

Senex has launched construction of a gas processing facility and pipeline as part of its wider Western Surat gas project (WSGP) in Queensland.

The Roma North gas development, 30km north of the town of Roma in the Maranoa region of Queensland, is a major expansion of the WSGP.

Brisbane-based Senex commissioned Wasco Australia to help build the facilities.

The services company started civil works on Roma North’s modular gas processing facility yesterday, which has a commissioning target set for the fourth quarter of 2019.

Senex managing director and chief executive officer Ian Davies said Roma North, together with the company’s partnership with Jemena at the Darling Downs-based Project Atlas, would set the “roadmap for development of our long-life natural gas assets” and create a foundation for a “step-change in production and cash flow over the near term.”

The facility will have an initial capacity of 16 terajoules (TJ)/day, equivalent to roughly 4.45-gigawatt hours (GWh) per day. According to Senex, this is capable of being expanded to 24TJ/day (6.67GWh/day). Read more…
