1,000 jobs ahoy for proposed coal gasification facility in Gladstone

A major milestone for a proposed above-ground coal gasification facility in Gladstone is a testament to the diversity of the resources sector and its ability to generate new long-term jobs.
Queensland Resources Council Chief Executive Ian Macfarlane said the Co-ordinator General’s declaration of Co-ordinated Project status for Australian Future Energy’s Gladstone Energy and Ammonia Project was good news for Central Queensland.
“The Queensland resources industry is far and away our state’s biggest earner and best job creator,” Mr Macfarlane said.
“The planned Gladstone Energy and Ammonia Project is yet another way we can make full use of our resources to deliver jobs for Queenslanders and investment for regional communities.
“The declaration from the Co-ordinator General means assessments and approvals can be streamlined to deliver the jobs and the project faster.”
Australian Future Energy says the proposed project will use low-quality coal to produce ammonia product and importantly, it will deliver up to 8PJ of gas to the domestic market. Read more…
